Visiting Milan

The beginning of autumn, with the serenity of the landscape, is an ideal time to visit a city like Milan.
We suggest you start visiting Milan from Piazza del Duomo that is the center of the city, it houses the Duomo, the monumental cathedral with baroque facade and spire in gothic style, one of the world’s largest surmounted by the symbol of the city: the Madonnina. It deserves absolutely to up to the terraces where you can see the Triburio, the peaks and a magnificent panorama on Milan.
From here the two main roads, the first is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, an elegant street covered by glass and iron structures which are lined with shops, cafes and the famous restaurant Savini, it connects Piazza del Duomo to Teatro della Scala, another emblem of the city.

Milan is rich of monuments including the Palazzo Reale, the Teatro Alla Scala, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, the Pinacoteca di Brera, the Church of Sant’Ambrogio, the famous Pirelli Tower and the Palazzo Borromeo.

Many places to visit including Piazza Velasca, Piazza Santa Babila, Piazza San Fedele, Piazza Sant’Ambrogio and Piazza delle Meraviglie d’Oro where there is also Porta Romana, the official entry of the city.

Among the most important museums there are the Museo del Duomo, the Museo Civico d’Arte contemporanea, the Casa di Alessandro Manzoni, the museum of Villa Reale, the Castle Sforzesco which houses the Civic Museum of exceptional value. More modern are the Fiera di Milan and the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium that hosts matches of the two major city teams: Milan and Inter.

Milan is also full of streets and neighborhoods to visit include: Via Ripamonti, Via Monte Napoleone, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Viale MonzaViale Buenos Aires and the Area of Milano 2, the famous Palazzo dei Cigni and the Navigli area with the Darsena, once the commercial center, today fun and entertainment center for young people and families.

To see all these things you should at least a weekend but if there’s one thing not lacking in Milan they are the hotels! It will not be difficult to find one suitable to your needs.

The Via Francigena is the route that, in the Middle Ages, thousands of pilgrims walked from Canterbury to get to Rome.

The route had to be made mostly on foot (for penitential reasons) with an average of 20-25 kilometers per day and it was driven by a fundamentally devotional: the pilgrimage to the holy places of Christianity.
This street full of history and spirituality crossed England, France and finally Italy.
Here are the cities where stop and walk on Via Francigena: Gran San Bernardo, Aosta, Ivrea, SanthiaVercelli, Pavia, Piacenza, Fiorenzuola Fidenza, Parma, Fornovo, Pontremoli, Aulla Luni, Lucca, San Genesio, San Gimignano, Siena, San Quirico, Bolsena, Viterbo, Sutri and finally Rome.

On the way is also possible to walk or bike on mountain and plain roads leading to the capital.
Many structures, including Farm Holidays and Bed and Breakfast, can give hospitality to pilgrims who decided to make this journey into the mystical and spiritual center of Christianity.

Where to stay:

Lake Garda is the ideal place for water sports enthusiasts, particularly the consistency and regularity of  its winds, the Ora, which blows from south to north from noon till late afternoon, and Pelér wich blows from north to south by two-three in the morning until noon.

If the southern part is favored by sailing boats, the area north has the best beaches for those who want to perform windsurfing and kitesurfing on Lake Garda, to be more precise, Campione del Garda, Riva del Garda, Torbole, Limone and Tignale.

Thanks to the almost incessant wind, this part of Lake Garda attracts lovers of these sports from all over Europe for many years and it hosts national and international competitions.

There are many schools that provide courses in windsurfing and kitesurfing for adults and children.
All those wishing to spend a holiday of kitesurfing and windsurfing can choose among many hotels and Bed & Breakfast of Lake Garda.

Where to stay:

It has become the subject of studies from the point of doctor view: the mountain in summer is good. Especially if you want to recover from a fun vacation, but tiring, the mountain is ideal. According to recent studies in fact the walks, the fresh air, the lack of noise rebalance the natural values in the body, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol and reducing anxiety and stress.
